Sad news! Prof. Dora Akunyili is Dead

Former Director General of NAFDAC and former Minister of Information Prof. Dora Akunyili is dead. We've heard rumours of her death a few times before but unfortunately this time it's for real. She died in the Indian hospital where she was taken to on May 11 to receive medical treatment after her health deteriorated.

Man Commit Suicide After Meeting His Online Girlfriend For The First Time

A man was excited to finally meet the woman with whom he was talking over the Internet for many years.
However, the meeting went very bad and the man committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor in a crowded mall.
The man was identified as Roberto Gonzales of the Philippines. Gonzales met the woman in the mall in the city of Lipa, Batangas.
A witness told investigators that she overheard the conversation between the man and the woman before he jumped.
Gonzales asked the woman: “Is that really you? How can that girl be you? You have dark skin. You fooled me for six years!”

11-Year-Old Shoots Grandma In The Head To Stop Her From Reading His Report Card

A woman in Oklahoma said this week that her 11-year-old grandson shot her in the head with her own gun while she was reading an unfavorable school progress report.
Annie Mougell-Walker explained to KOTV that incident had happened after her grandson had trouble at school that day.
“He got in trouble today at school, so when I got home I was gonna talk to him furthermore about it,” she recalled. “Before I could talk to him all I saw was a big bang of a flash and heard it, and I knew I was shot in the back of my head.”

Two Sisters Kill brother over late father’s land



Two sisters hack brother to death in Calabar over late father’s land 


Two sisters (names withheld) have been detained by the Police in Calabar, Cross River State for allegedly hacking their eldest brother, Kokoette Effiom Effiong, to death.
The two were alleged to have attacked Kokoette with sticks and machetes in a fight which ensued following disagreement over the sharing of proceeds from the sale of their late father’s land at Akpabuyo.
The incident which happened on 23rd of April, at Ikot Nakanda, according to a family source, left the deceased with deep machete cuts in the head inflicted by the two sisters which led to his death.
“The man had deep cuts in the head and arm inflicted by Idak and Ikwo during a fight in the bush behind our house,” Otop Idebe, Kokoette’s cousin said.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Wahab Lawal, for allegedly stabbing his wife to death in the Oto, Ebute Meta area of the state.
PUNCH learnt that the suspect stabbed his wife, Bola, to death on March 26 after about five failed attempts to take her life.
Friends of the deceased told PUNCH Metro that Wahab was a very hot tempered man who had battered his wife in the past.

Man Tries To Kill pregnant Gilfriend

A Chinese man kidnapped his pregnant girlfriend and tried to blow her up with a gas canister he had tied to her.
Despite suffering horrific injuries, Xu Fan, 21 survived the ordeal as did her unborn baby.

She accidentally ended up pregnant after a one night stand with Li Moulian, 36, in Mazhuang New Village in Huizhou City of Guangdong Province in the south of China.
The couple decided to stay together with Li working hard getting occasional jobs to raise the money for his new family, and the couple moving in together.

Woman Prisoner kills herself to Ease Pain



A woman prisoner committed suicide in Jharkhand's Gumla district Saturday
According to police, Jagini Oraon committed suicide in a toilet of Gumla district hospital by hanging herself with her sari. She was admitted to the hospital a few days back after she complained of stomach pain.

According to police sources, doctors detected a problem in Oraon's liver and referred her to the state capital Ranchi for treatment but the jail administration failed to take her to Ranchi. Suffering from pain, Oraon committed suicide.

High School Girl Reportedly Stabbed to Death Over Prom Rejection 

A Connecticut high school went on lockdown early this morning after a female student was stabbed to death by a classmate, reportedly because she rejected his request to go to prom with him tonight.
Teachers and emergency responders at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, Conn., tried to save the life of 16-year-old Maren Sanchez, but she was pronounced dead after being transported to Bridgeport Hospital. No one else was injured in the attack.
The suspect, also a 16-year-old student, is in police custody after teachers subdued him.
A student witness told Fox News that the attacker asked Sanchez to prom inside a stairwell at the school. When Sanchez, who had a boyfriend, turned him down, the suspect started to strangle her, then pushed her down the stairs and stabbed her.
Students were sent home after the incident, and the dance has been postponed.

Building Collapsed in Lagos, traps 10

The collapsed two-storey building and a victim in Oworonsoki, Lagos..on Thursday 


According to Punch,  No fewer than 10 people were trapped on Thursday after a two-storey building under construction collapsed on Alonge Street, Oworonshoki, Lagos.

Although they were later rescued, but not without sustaining varying degrees of injury.
PUNCH Metro learnt that among the injured were three children, Moses Atoketi 15; Jimoh Adebiyi 13; and Monday Ahungbe 12; and seven other casual workers in the building.
A resident, Oscar Joshua, told our correspondent that the building collapsed around 11.30am.
Joshua, who is also the Organising Secretary, Oworonshoki Youth Association, said the building used to be a bungalow but was being reconstructed at the time of the incident.
