Boko Haram attacks market in Borno state, 15 dead

At least 15 people died yesterday June 15th after suspected men of the Boko Haram sect launched an attack on traders at a local market in Daku village of Askira Uba LGA of Borno state around 11am.

Reports say the men numbering over 20 and armed with AK-47 rifles, Improvised Explosive Devices and petrol bombs stormed the market square on motorcycles and a Hilux Toyota vehicle, and opened fire at people in the market. Several shops, houses, vehicles and motorcycles were reportedly razed during the attack. After the attack, sources say the men then took foodstuffs and money from the traders.

LOL ; Man Sues Hospital After Surgery Shortened His Manhood

A Canadian man is suing a Montreal area hospital over a botched surgery that left his penis one inch shorter, claiming it ruined his sex life and his marriage, media said Friday.

The man, whose identity was withheld by Sun Media, told the newspaper chain he had been rushed to hospital in 2011 with a fractured appendage.

The man, who is a paraplegic, injured his penis while having sex with his wife in July 2011, according to the lawsuit.

Man tries to kill girlfriend because she refused to kiss him

A 33-year-old  man was arrested on Wednesday and accused of trying to kill his girlfriend after she refused to kiss him goodnight, the Bellingham Herald reported.

Brent J. Bruwelheide was charged with second-degree attempted murder for allegedly hitting the 36-year-old woman several times and choking her with a cell phone charger cord at the couple’s residence. He is being held on $1 million bail.

Alert : Register UTME Twice And Face Three-Year Ban.

As from now onward, candidates who register for and sit both the paper pencil test and the Computer-Based Test of the Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME) in the same year will be banned three years from taking part in the examination.

Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Dibu Ojerinde, disclosed this in Abuja during the inauguration of a model Computer-Based Test Centre built by the board in Kogo Bwari.

He was reacting to reports that some candidates were involved in multiple registrations in this year’s UTME. He said the board had already invalidated the results obtained by such candidates.

The families of passengers on the missing Malaysian plane receive compensation of $50,000

 

According to BBC, The families of passengers on the missing Malaysian passenger plane have begun to receive initial compensation payments of $50,000 (£30,000).

So far six Malaysian families and one Chinese family have received the money, and insurers are assessing the claims of 40 more Chinese families.
Relatives of all 239 missing passengers can claim up to $175,000 each.

Thirty One [31] Prostitute Arrested in Ghana

 

Thirty-one commercial sex workers and two of their male patrons were arrested in a police swoop in Accra on Monday.
One of the commercial sex workers is said to be five-months pregnant.
The operation, which started at 11 p.m, was part of efforts by the Cantonments Police to rid the streets of Accra of prostitutes. Those arrested were aged 18 to 40.

Elise Smith, 11, was made to sit with sticky tape over her lips as a punishment at William Allitt School in Swadlincote, Derbyshire.
