Assistant Inspector-General of Police(AIG), Zone 7, Suleiman Abbah, who briefed reporters on the update of investigation into the blast, assured Nigerians that the perpetrators would soon be arrested.
Stating that the Inspector General of Police(IGP), Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar, had set up a team of highly-experienced investigators made up of officers from the Force Criminal Investigation
Department(FCID), Abbah said that even though no arrest had been made so far, “there is evidence that we hope would link us to those responsible for the crime”.
The AIG, who refused to disclose some of the evidence for security reasons, said “in no distant future, we will know who did it and they will get justice”.
While calling on the public to be more security-conscious as the incident of the Nyanya motorpark explosion could have been avoided considering how the suicide bomber drove into the park and parked the bomb-laden vehicle in front of the luxury buses, Abbah also urged the public to make use of police emergency numbers to avert some of these tragedies.
He also said the police will prevent a recurrence of the Nyanya motorpark bomb blast in any part of the country.
