Femi Fani-Kayode speaks on why he Visted Jonathan At The Villa

Former minister of aviation and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has explained the reason why he was at the villa for a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan.

He held a closed –door meeting with  President Goodluck Jonathan at the presidential villa, Abuja.
The former minister who initially was reluctant to speak to State House correspondents after leaving the president’s office, later offered to talk briefly when he was reminded that he was dealing with his constituency, the media.
Fani-Kayode said, “This is a presidential villa. The president is the president of Nigeria; every Nigerian is entitled, when the doors are open, to come and pay their respect to the wonderful people that are here. As a Nigerian, I have done that today and I’m delighted to be here.”
Asked about his perception of the president, he said, “I have always believed that every Nigerian, regardless of the side of the political divide they belong, and as a Nigerian myself, I have believed that we disagree on an issue from time to time; the most important thing is for us to be able to resolve these issues, come together to move this country forward, and I think every right thinking, responsible person should be able to do that. They should also be able to come to the villa from time to time and  see how they can help to move the country forward.”
On what he discussed with the president, Fani-Kayode simply said, “I won’t go into that.”
Fani-Kayode’s visit to the presidential villa is the first time since Jonathan became president.
Fani-Kayode has not spared the Jonathan government an inch with his critical comments on several issues, writing articles upon articles, and flaying several government policies on the pages of newspapers.
Last year, he engaged in a verbal war with special adviser on Media to President Jonathan, Dr. Reuben Abati, over an article the presidential spokesman wrote which described him and the likes of former FCT minister as “yesterday’s men.”

In response to Abati’s article entitled, “The Hypocrisy of Yesterday’s Men,” Fani-Kayode published an article entitled, “The Delusions of Today’s Men,” in which he disparaged Abati and cautioned him about the transience of power.
