Instead of running to the drugstore in a last minute panic to buy some
kind of instant rescue beauty treatment for dry hair, blotchy skin,
puffiness under the eyes or whatever the beauty crisis of the day is,
you can stop many of these things from occurring, by just applying some
gentle, natural beauty treatments on a regular basis. American women
spend billions of dollars on chemical based beauty products, so read our
tips, save some money and try some of our natural, homemade beauty
treatments that you can use on a regular basis to avoid all those last
minute emergency treatments:
1. Cucumber for your eyes and your skin
The benefit of using cucumber, as a treatment for puffy eyes is no big
secret, it has been known for many years. It has anti-oxidants and
vitamins that will relieve dark circles and reduce puffiness, but
cucumber juice can also be used regularly as a wonderful skin treatment
too. Simply slice some cucumber or extract its juice using a blender,
apply (and re-apply if necessary) this cucumber juice to your face for
5-10 minutes, then rinse off; it will gently refresh and cool your skin.
Here is another facial mask with cucumber that will nourish, hydrate and
freshen your skin: mix in your blender a half of ripe banana and half
cucumber, add a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and apply the mixture
to your face, leave on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse off. This face mask
is good for all skin types, it will add softness and moisturize your
skin, leaving beautiful, healthy glow.
2. Avocado and coconut for your hair
Avocado can be used for both your hair and your skin, but here, we
concentrate on the benefits for your hair. Avocado adds natural oil to
your hair; the vitamins avocado contains add shine, nourish your hair
and protect your locks against pollution and sun damage. Simply mash up a
couple of avocados (or use your blender), add a couple of tablespoons
of coconut oil (or avocado oil) and massage into your hair for a regular
healthy hair treatment; leave it on for at least 20 minutes and then,
wash off. Your hair will be strengthened, will look silkier and shinier,
especially, if you do it regularly.
3. Honey and yogurt face mask
A great multi-purpose face mask is a mixture of honey and natural
yogurt. The yogurt clears and disinfects the pores, whilst moisturizing
your skin and the anti-bacterial properties of the honey will help clear
up any acne and blemishes. Mix half a cup of yogurt with a teaspoon of
honey and use as you would any other face mask. If you have oily skin
add a tablespoon of white cosmetic clay to this face mask (so that you
will get a mix of yogurt, honey and white clay), it will help clear your
pores and add softness to your skin.
4. Baking soda to brighten your teeth
You can swap your harsh whitening toothpaste for a more natural approach
with baking soda and lemon juice. Mix a little breaking soda with a
splash of lemon juice and rub over your teeth for a natural stain
remover and whitener paste. Do it only once a week during one month, and
then stop. Avoid using this treatment if your teeth are sensitive, and
avoid doing this treatment too often, because it can damage your teeth.
5. Oatmeal and sweet almond oil natural homemade face scrub
There are various recipes that you can find for making oatmeal face
scrubs. One of my favorites is mixing oatmeal with a little sweet almond
oil. Oatmeal is high in proteins and nutrients and can be used as a
scrub by simply cooking it in water (take one or two tablespoons of
oatmeal), allow to cool, add some sweet almond oil (a tablespoon is
usually enough), make sure that your scrub isn’t hot – it should be
comfortable to touch, and gently massage your face with this nourishing
homemade face scrub, leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse; your skin will
be amazingly soft, beautiful and very happy!
6. Coffee as a natural body scrub
If you love coffee don’t throw away the grounds, you can use them in a
natural body scrub recipe. Coffee is believed to improve your
circulation, reduce the appearance of varicose veins and reduce
cellulite. Mix half a cup of coffee grounds with some olive oil and half
a cup of sugar, you can also add a couple of drops of rose essential
oil for a beautiful scent, and scrub your body gently, while in the
shower to exfoliate and smooth your skin.
7. Take a relaxing milk and honey bath
Relax after a long and stressful day with this natural de-stressing bath
soak: add 3 cups of milk and 5 tablespoons of honey to your bath water
and don’t forget to add a handful of rose petals for the extra luxury
and romantic mood; lay back and relax while doing your favorite facial
mask and listening to your favorite music.
8. Revitalize your skin with a simple yogurt face mask
A simple, natural and easy way to nourish, hydrate and revitalize your
skin is doing a yogurt facial mask. Simply apply some yogurt on your
skin for 5-10 minutes (you can do it while taking your bath) and then,
rinse. Use plain yogurt for this facial mask. Your skin will be
nourished, moisturized and its texture will instantly improve.
9. Anti-aging egg yolk and olive oil facial mask
For reinvigorating, anti-aging and nourishing facial treatment, mix a
one egg yolk with a little olive oil and apply to your face; leave on
for around 5-10 minutes, before washing off. This face mask is good for
ladies who want to win their fight with wrinkles and have smooth and
hydrated skin. If you have oily skin, use egg white instead of egg yolk,
it will help shrink pores, while still adding hydration and softening
the skin.
10. Green tea and aloe vera toning facial mask
This toning and refreshing facial mask is a quick ‘pick-me-up’ solution
for ladies on the go. Cool down one green tea bag (from the tea that
you’ve just enjoyed), take out what’s inside the tea bag and mix it with
a tablespoon of aloe vera gel. Apply to your face for 5-10 minutes,
then rinse off and spray your face with rose water as a final step. Your
skin will feel refreshed, soft and hydrated.
