A mother is behind bars on charges of burning her young daughter with a hot knife.
Lagos State Police said that 29-year-old Lucy Samuel was
arrested on Thursday, after being charged in connection with assaulting
her 13-year-old daughter with a hot knife.Samuel of 14/6 Isheri Osun Road, was charged with one count of conspiracy and two counts of assault.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant and her husband conspired and assaulted the 13-year-old girl with a hot knife inside their home during an argument.
According to the police investigation, the mother inserted the hot knife into the private parts of the victim after the girl told her that she was forced to have sex with her father.
Police first learned of the assault by the girl’s teacher. The teacher noticed that the girl was in pain and notified the police.
The mother pleaded not guilty to the charges. The judge set bail at N100,000.
