I Have Forgiven Obasanjo – Orji Kalu

Talking Politics
A former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu said yesterday that he has put aside the grudges between him and former president Olusegun Obasanjo, stating that he has forgiven the former president of his sins against him.

The publisher of the Sun and the Telegraph newspapers stated this yesterday in an interview with newsmen in Makurdi when he visited Governor Gabriel Suswam to confer with him on challenges facing the nation.
According to Kalu, former president Obasanjo struggled very well to impact development in the country but that he committed some illegalities and that he doesn’t forgive easily which, he (Kalu) noted is unhealthy to the country’s growth and development.
“I have forgiven Obasanjo of all the things he did against me because the man was a very struggling man. The only problem is that he doesn’t forgive and as an elder, I have forgiven him and I cannot hold any grudge against him. The only thing is that we need to unite,” Kalu stated.
He disclosed that his previous hard criticisms against the government of former President Obasanjo was perpetrated out of youthful exuberance and regretted some of the outburst, insisting that now that he is elderly, he has resorted to peaceful resolution of issues rather than being agitative.
“I was very young when I became governor at the age of 38, very vibrant, very active but now I have become an elder and we must preserve our nation and that is why I am going about to let people know that we must reunite,” he said.
The publisher further noted that the nation is faced with serious security challenges which are yet to be properly tackled and insisted that his visit to state governors is to reason with them on workable measures that will end the lingering national problems.
His words, “My visits round the country is to confer with the governors on the crises in the states and country and how we can sustain development in the nation. The nation is more important and playing politics with rumours is unhealthy for the political growth of the country. Nigeria needs to be one and we need to unite ourselves in order to enhance development.
