A woman was arrested and will be charged with assault after allegedly breaking the skull of her baby girl, Israel Police said.
Ma’alot Police said that they arrested the mother of the 4-month-old girl on Wednesday.
The girl was hospitalized on Monday, suffering from head trauma at the Western Galilee Hospital in Nahariya. Doctors at the hospital began to suspect that the girl was being abused after medical tests showed that the girl was being assaulted.
A spokesperson for the hospital said that the baby suffered from a fractured skull. Police suspect that the 20-year-old mother was involved in the assault.
The mother will be brought before a magistrate’s court for a bail hearing, while charges are still pending. The father of the child was arrested on Tuesday.
The father is also being accused of assault and he was remanded into custody for at least three days.
