As President Goodluck Jonathan visits Kano today, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has insisted he must use the occasion to explain the missing $20 billion petroleum fund to the people. Kwankwaso said he regretted voting for Jonathan during the 2011 presidential election, claiming that the President had disappointed the nation.
The governor spoke yesterday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) elders meeting held at the Government House in Kano. He said people were still waiting to hear the truth about the alleged missing $20 billion public funds which led to the suspension of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor.
Kwankwaso said: “If someone alleges that N20 million is missing in one of the Kano State’s ministries, first of all, I will investigate the matter and if it the allegation is true, I must commend the person for job well done and then take the appropriate action on it.
According to him, Kano people would not welcome Jonathan to the state today because the President had done nothing to make life better for them, but unjustifiably sacked “our illustrious and respected son, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.”
The governor said: “I am regretting voting President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, as he has done nothing to move the nation forward. “Kano people are not welcoming the President for Tuesday’s visit since there is no project in any part of the state that Jonathan’s government has or is undertaking.”
Kwankwaso added that since Jonathan assumed office, nothing had been done towards the development of the country. He said under Jonathan’s government, corruption, insecurity and embezzlement of public fund had become the order of the day.
“Only a few people are enjoying in Nigeria at the expense of the generality of the citizenry,” the governor said, lamenting that despite the President’s obvious inadequacies, he is bent on being re-elected in 2015. Kwankwaso, however, said Jonathan’s dream of being re-elected would not be realised.
He urged the people to vote for APC in 2015. Kwankwaso accused PDP of planning to disrupt unity among APC members by deploying money to entice them, stressing that APC had already taken measures to tackle the issue.
